In the field of health, Ruhango District has got thirteen health centers and a hospital. This is insufficient all the same with regard to the distance that the population of certain sectors like Ntongwe and Mwendo has to take in order to access these health facilities and servises. There is also an insufficiency of medical personnel and some health centers need to be rehabilitated.

A big number of the population have subscribed in the mutual health insurance in such a way that by 2008 83% of the district population had been registered and 27.1% are participating in family planning. All children under five years were immunized. There are five doctors in the district and 152 nurses.
