Ruhango District has been instrumental in the education sector because it is well aware that it is the major foundation of development. Currently the District has got 65 Nursery Schools that had registered 3,342 pupils by 2008, with 90 teachers.
The district has also got 75 Primary Schools that has got 964 classrooms, but 301 of these are not in good condition and they need to be repaired. These primary schools have a total of 64,154 pupils, 32,864 being girls and 1,075 teachers. There are 21 Secondary Schools in the District that accommodate 13,406 students of which 6,327 are girls. The district has 568 secondary school teachers, 155 of them have A0 qualification, 260 have A1 level, and the rest have A2 level.
The District of Muhanga is also putting in place a program of eliminating illiteracy in the district by establishing 69 centers that will teach how to read and write to more than 7,044 old people including more than 3,583 women. |
